Bubbles of Yum

2001 – Present

The ‘Bubbles of Yum’ series is about my first candid exploration of what soldiers really think and fantasise about, in contrast to the way we were portrayed as wholesome, earnest, almost monastic models of high socialist ethics.

The reality is that, like anywhere else, many of us soldiers would sexualise and eroticise the socialist icons that were around us. There was a lot of latent and repressed sexual tension in the military. This sexual tension manifests in many different ways.
